Energy and Water

Water and energy—few other issues are as fundamental to the very survival of Central Texas. AARO’s focus is on long-term strategies to expand our region’s water supply and to ensure an uninterrupted flow of affordable power for 21st Century Texas. A highly engaged committee of leaders drawn from all sectors of the economy concentrates its efforts on research, conflict resolution, sponsorship of important meetings and symposia, education of key decision-makers and thought-leaders, and close and careful monitoring of public and private sector initiatives.

Big Bet

  • Establish a coordinated regional water supply strategy for Central Texas.
    • Facilitate creation of a regional water supply by identifying, educating, and engaging CEO-level business community leaders in coordination with active engagement with regional water supply providers.
    • Facilitate increased water conservation.
  • Monitor governance issues for the Austin Water Utility.
  • Monitor energy issues at the local, regional and state levels.
