AARO Member, Patsy Woods Martin, was a winner at the August 7TH Austin Business Journal‘s 20th annual Profiles in Power, which recognizes women of influence in Central Texas.

AARO Member, Carl Richie, was selected by The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) as a 2014 NAHRO fellow. It is the highest honor and recognition awarded in the public housing industry, similar to the induction into the Hall of Fame. NAHRO fellows are honored because they have demonstrated over a sustained period of time, their commitment to improve the housing conditions of their fellow citizens and/or the viability and sustainability of the communities in which they live and/or work.

Carl’s involvement in public housing started in 1975, and since then most of his efforts have been devoted to giving back to the community. Carl currently chairs the Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA). Carl is the 13TH person to be nationally selected and the first volunteer/board member to be selected. Congratulations Carl!

AARO Member, Earl Maxwell, will be recognized with the Byron E. Cox Spirit of Caring Award, at the twelfth annual Byron E. Cox iCare Gala.  The Care Communities’ Board of Directors and Gala Committee will showcase the amazing amount of good Earl, and the other honorees, have done for others in our community.

AARO Member, Charles Betts, will be the special guest and honoree at the annual Friends of Front Steps Fundraiser Breakfast on Friday, September 12TH.  The annual event also serves to raise awareness and support for Front Steps’ programs and services that support those experiencing homelessness.
